Mainteinance and Diagnostics

In order to inspect the condition of structures the Company is equipped with:
1 Platform for the inspection of the linings of tunnels, overpasses and underpasses
3 By-bridges with 20 metre long arms, which enable access from the roadway to the underside of bridges and via ducts

The Department is also equipped with instrumentation for testing structures and for the control and assessment of the mechanical and geometrical characteristics of materials, especially for reinforced concrete structures, including:
for static load tests:
Centimetre and millimetre dial gauges
Linear movement transducers
Digital levels
Clinometers
Extensometers
for dynamic load tests:
Data collection/processing unit for seismic accelerometers, extensometers, movement transducers
for dynamic load tests:
Non-destructive testing equipment (Schmidt hardness testers, ultrasound equipment, Windsor Probe System, pull-out test equipment)
Sampling core barrels
Reinforcement investigation devices (position and thickness of reinforcement cover, mapping of potential for assessment of the corrosion)

Material testing

The in-house laboratories are able to carry out tests on materials in order to provide support to the Project Management personnel throughout the country, enabling the quality of the materials used in the works (concrete, bitumen, soil, rock and aggregates, etc.) to be assessed. The equipment available includes:
Drying ovens
Technical digital scales
Mixing equipment
Automatic compactors
Indirect traction instrumentation for bituminous conglomerates
Concrete compression and bending testing equipment
Slump cones
Marsh cones
Cone equipment to assess fluidity of grouts
Automatic bitumen extraction units

Hardware and Software

Spea is integrated in the Autostrade Group telemetry network and possesses a high-capacity network infrastructure.
The Spea information system is connected to every office and all the offices of the Group.
The hardware is al owned by the company and is updated in line with market developments:

Central data processing system
Departmental network servers
Fixed and portable workstations
High production B/W and colour printing systems
Videoconference stations

The company also has an in-house high-production service centre for digital data collection and printing, which is also integrated in the network and set up for the production of B/W and colour documents, up to A0 format.

The Software used consists of a set of programs selected on the domestic market by specialists in the sector.

Spea also collaborates with the main software manufacturers in order to increase the performance of their products and if suitable software is not available Spea develops its own package.
