Environmental impact study
for expansion
to a third motorway lane

As part of the Environmental Impact Assessment, Spea has identified certain sites with critical environmental situations for which specific designs have been developed, with the aim of optimising the infrastructure and harmoniously introducing it within the existing site, and obtaining the agreement of the local residents involved in the public debate.

The chosen sites have been reconstructed in a virtual model which describes:
the layout and vertical alignment of the infrastructure and the construction materials
the landscape and vegetation (both in terms of distribution of the plants and recognition of the species).

All the design modifications for the infrastructure have been overlapped in this model, together with the impact mitigation measures (noise barriers or perceptive improvements), thereby obtaining a second virtual model.
The comparison between the virtual model of the current situation and the design assumptions enables the positive and negative aspects of the new solution to be extrapolated. This also serves to stimulate the public debate and to guide the design towards the best possible solutions.
