Improvement of the original route
of the A1 motorway
in the Municipality of Sasso Marconi

The project forms part of the upgrading of the A1 Milan-Naples motorway in the section within the Municipality of Sasso Marconi and covers the improvement of the original route with:

the use of the current northern carriageway as a bypass for the Monte Mario tunnel and the new Reno viaduct with traffic only in one direction (south) and solely for the motorway - in the event of an accident or extraordinary maintenance on the Variante di Valico

the use of the downgraded southern carriageway, as a connection branch - with two-way traffic - between the new Sasso Marconi junction and the new State Highway S.S. 64 Porrettana, by means of an operational modification to the motorway carriageway, which does not require the construction of new structures, but solely extraordinary maintenance activities and upgrading of the infrastructure in line with the current standards.

The project also includes:

	repair and reconstruction of the structures present along the section of motorway
	reconstruction of the entire emergency lane and laying of the wearing course over the entire motorway
	replacement of the safety barriers and installation of the vertical and horizontal signage
	construction of a new water drainage system with a "closed" layout
	some landscaping and environmental works, such as the planting of vegetation to tie in with the surrounding landscape and the installation of new noise barriers.
